Verizon plans more 100G and 40G deployments
JANUARY 4, 2010 By Stephen Hardy — While last month’s deployment in Europe represented Verizon’s first fielding of commercial 100-Gbps technology, sources at the carrier don’t expect it to be the last. Meanwhile, the door hasn’t closed on 40-Gbps technology in the Verizon network, either.

You are probably like most of us who purchased the new Droid, happy with all the features yet frustrated about how to change things. Here are some of the things I have discovered along the way.

Would you like to remove some of the default icons on your screen? Simply hold down your finger on top of the icon you do not want remove, then drag it down on top of the gray tab at the bottom of the screen. As you drag it over the gray tab, the tab will turn red. As it turns red, remove your finger from the screen. Your icon is gone.

Want to get rid of a default Bookmark? Simply touch the Bookmark tab at the top right of the screen to open the full list. Then find the Bookmark you want to delete and hold your finger on it until a white screen pops up. Go to the bottom of the screen and touch the Delete Bookmark option. The Droid will then ask you to say OK or Cancel, touch OK and the Bookmark is gone.

Trying to add a web page to your list of Bookmarks? Once you have the web page displayed, touch the Bookmark button. Your Bookmark page opens and you will notice the first one is displaying the web site you are on and it has a star with the word “Add” next to it. Just touch it and your bookmark will be added.

Need to clear your web site viewing History? Simply touch the Bookmark tab and once it opens, you will see a History button in the top right. Touch it and then you will need to touch the Menu button on the bottom of the phone. It will bring up a Clear History button. Touch it and your history is gone.

The Droid has many applications you can download. If you have not checked them out yet, simply touch the Market icon on your main screen. At the top you will see three tabs, Apps, Games and Verizon. Touch one of them and it will open another screen with more options, choose one of them, then you will have three more choices at the top, Top Paid, Top Free and Just in. Touch the one you want, the applications will be listed according to their rating.

Enjoy your Motorola Droid.
