Tri Band Phone
What does tri-band mean in the description of a cell phone?
I want to buy a Motorola SLVR L6 on eBay, but in the description it says, “this is a tri-band phone, do your research.” I checked the service coverage and it says that it is covered in my area. I am a T-Mobile subscriber, it’s not on the website,so I went to the Cingular website, they only have the L7, and it doesn’t say anything about tri-band. I am confused? Someone please help!!

Should I buy it, will it work in the U.S.
Tri-band means it can work on three different frequency bands. Some combination of 850 MHz (Cingular mostly), 900 and 1800 mHz (not in the USA) and 1900 MHz (Cingular and TMobile). Your phone will work no problem (as long as it is not “SIM Locked”).
Whether it is dual-tri-quad band is of no importance unless you plan to travel internationally a lot.
