No, not with either. US Cellular and Spring use CDMA, and unless the Sony phone is Dual Mode (which would make it ridiculously expensive, so you’d probably know if it were) you won’t be able to use it on either of those, nor with Verizon. Just AT&T and T-Mobile. Dual Mode phones work on CDMA and GSM and are rare.

Choosing your region

Of the different regions in Spain each offer their own unique trekking adventure. Observe wildlife in their habitat natural in the game and nature reserves or at one of the many national parks. Visit scenic areas of what is often called "Green Spain" in areas of north and the Pyrenees, which separate France and Spain. Or you can hike to the highest peak of the Spanish peninsula in the Sierra Nevada, located in the southern region. Here you can also explore unusual architecture and art in remote locations!

Here are some recommended hiking adventures in Spain:

The mighty mountain ranges of Spain are the Cantabrian Mountains, crossing the Central Mountain chain and the Iberian Range, Starting in the Basque Country and end on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Spain is the most mountainous country in Europe. You will enjoy visiting the hills and valleys of the Pyrenees, one of the most popular hiking areas in Spain. Or, for a rugged hiking adventure, Picos de Europa has many areas where no roads. This is located in the regions of Cantabria and Asturias.

Walk Among the Sant Martí d'Empuries and Ruins

This is a medieval city where the ruins of an ancient Greek-Roman city called Empuries lie. This is one of the most appreciated in Spain. A walk in this area reveals ornamental mosaics on the floor, an original wall built by the Romans, and the brilliant design of a Greek city.

Explore Volcanoes of Olot and La Fageda d'en Jorda

Make an excursion to explore what is now a nature reserve. There are over 30 volcanic cones. There is also a beech forest, located in the famous lava stream Santa Margarida, a volcano that is known to have a small church in its crater.

Hidden Valley Tour of the Vall de Nuria

Meeting of the tranquility of nature in the hidden valley of Vall de Nuria. This hike begins with a ride on a train that takes you silence peculiar to the valley. This railway is the only Nuria means of transport. The valley is surrounded by high mountains, giving a great view of the landscape of the Alps during his walk.

Hiking in National Park Aigüestortes

You'll also find great hiking opportunities Aigüestortes National Park, located in the heart of the Pyrenees. The park offers a real vision of High Mountain, and water is abundant throughout the area. If you like hiking around lakes, rivers and waterfalls, there are over 200 of them in the park. Do not miss the Aigues Tortes or "twisted waters" in the park. This is one of the most fascinating landscapes of the Pyrenees. Also during an excursion in the park, you'll see plenty of wildlife. There are fir trees that are over a hundred years and black pine tree forest where you can find chamois or bearded!

Legend of the Canary Islands

Walking in the Canary Islands has a legendary touch! The Canary Islands are part of the legend Atlantis, a place known as the lost continent. As you walk through the woods laurisilvia, also known as the laurel forest, you feel of being in an enchanted place. Before the Tertiary, these forests once grew throughout the Mediterranean and most of Europe!

Walk, where pirates once knew

Another interesting excursion is the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range on the west coast of the island of Mallorca. The ridge runs along the coast, and you have a panoramic view of the edges of cliffs and coves in the shadow of the pines. This area of the Mediterranean used to be a meeting place to the pirates. A well preserved in Sóller train which was built in 1912 will give you the feeling of being in another time in history, along with paved roads they have from the sea via l'Inferno and the beautiful cliffs of Puig Major, which is the highest peak of Majorca. The local population of the island are hospitable, and you will receive a warm welcome after a long day trip!

Try Great food while hiking in the Pyrenees Navarra

Travel by foot through a timeless environment that has been preserved by its inhabitants. The Pyrenees of Navarre offers a great hiking experience along with the best vegetables, cheese, meat and fish for the tasting. You can also get to see where they make most valued wines from Spain – in the river Ebro in Spain Walking a great way to discover the beauty of nature, meet friendly people and delicious food and wine taste!

Spain, Madrid et al and hiking? You; ll need a mobile phone for emergency use and regular use in contact with friends and family, perhaps for hotel and transportation and the local GSM service which will be amazed how the service is much better in Spain than back home. Almost everywhere in Spain and its islands, yes, even the islands and mountains, is covered by excellent GSM mobile phone service. With a local service provider all incoming calls are 100% free and call the States is just $ 80 per minute. Or, to be 100% sure, you can rent a satellite phone and the time you can point to the southern hemisphere will get the service across Europe. Incoming calls free, day and night of every country on earth and only $ 1.99 to call any country, always.

For more information on the rental / purchase of such phones and getting this kind of super low cost service to look at http://www.planetomni.com or call 800-514-2984 in the States or 925-686-9945 from outside. They ship worldwide and are based in California.

Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You’ll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. You can buy factory unlocked phones and sim cards for more than 170 or the 193 countries on earth from htt://http://www.planetomni.com Tel. #800-514-2984
