@triloblitz If you are looking for a feature full handset, this is probably the first choice (till the N9 arrives). If you’re priority is the GUI with nice transactions etc. (not speaking of speed, cause the N8 seems fast) then you choose another one. Unfortunately that’s the focus for many US based blogs.

Look only the free forever OVI maps. Simply a killer feature for abroad travelling as it is working offline.

@triloblitz …but my next device will not be an Android, unless Gingerbread addresses the many irritating niggles with Android. Once I have less than 15MB, I get no push email, no updates, and no downloads. Hackers have easily solved these problems by rooting – why doesn’t Android pull it’s finger out and address the issues? The Nokia n9 (N8 + qwerty) looks to be exactly what I want – if it is stable, then that’s what I’ll get – no animated backgrounds? Who cares – I’m not 12…

@triloblitz Don’t be such a fandroid. Navigon and Maps can easily be installed onto SD – it’s just not supported yet. My whole point is that a fresh install of Froyo leaves you with something like 120MB free – that’s pathetic. iOS is a way more efficient OS, but fails for me because of it’s restricted nature. You don’t read about installation problems, or HD framerate lag on iOS – Android developers are constantly frustrated by the SDK – it’s Java! I’m sticking with Android until I see Meego….

@cirkusarena Of course those applications you mentioned have to be installed in the phone’s memory, because the phone has to use these apps with or without an sd card. But in android the phone memory is just a rom to store apps like these ones, you don’t need to use it to store anything else.
You thing iOS is better? Try to transfer a file using the iphone’s bluetooth, among many other basic things you can find in the foruns filled with iphone user complains, then let me know you opinion ;)

@triloblitz It hasn’t even been launched yet! That’s like calling the iphone 5 the best phone going – it’s not released yet! What kind of lists do Techradar produce? Fictive ones?

@triloblitz …and I’M just saying that hardly any apps support SD installing on 2.2 Froyo – not even Google’s own. Navigon, Facebook, Maps, Contacts, all have to be installed onto phone not card, and that leaves me with 14MB free. Like I said, no apps support apps2sd.

720p works at 16fps with all background apps closed, and even then slows to 9fps – useless, and no point putting in the update. Android, in my opinion, comes 3rd behind Symbian and iOS – even Maemo or Meego!.

@churchill1980 I’m not an iphone user, i have an HTC Desire, and it’s way better than the iphone 4. But i tell you the N8 is not even close to these two phones. Actualy if you check any site that compares the most recent phones in the market right now, N8 is always way behind

@cirkusarena Maybe if you install the applications in the sd card you will have more availiable phone memory (i’m just saying…) :)
About the camera at 720p, why don’t you try to close all running background applications before using it? (once again, i’m just saying…) :)

@triloblitz I was waiting like other Desire users for 2.2 for what seems like forever. Now we have it, I am so peed off, I will sell it as soon as the N8 launches; 720p vid is a stuttering nightmare on Desire (9-16fps!), and Apps2SD would be great if any apps actually supported it! I have 12 downloaded apps on my Desire, and NO space available for any more. Android is a wanna-be iphone OS, and needs a serious overhaul before it can be taken seriously.

@triloblitz So yeah, n8 has undoubtedly THE BEST camera ever fit on a phone.
And also note that ALL the features I mentioned are really important and I’m gonna use them almost everyday. Especially USB OTG, music, GPS, videos, and file transfer over Bluetooth 3.0. And Hemingway out is quite IMP to me watching clips and photos I take directly on TV. and yes, I travel quite frequently.

@triloblitz Yep, BUT, 720p on desire (and most android phones) is completely ridiculous. It simply sucks. However, 720p on iphone4, samsung wave and Nokia N8 just rock! N8 is the best of all TBH. and I don’t think presuming that s^3 will suck is a good thing. All that have played with N8 say that it’s REALLY good and s^3 is now a real pleasure to use. And keep in mind that it’s just an evolution, s^4 will be a revolution. And meego will dominate the high end. So I’d wait till it’s release & see.

@Panhead1993 Those are all good, but it’s just a bunch of stuff you will only use once in your lifetime. With the android 2.2 upgrade the desire can film in HD 720p to. Don’t forget one big huge difference: N8 is symbian, Desire is Android. Sure it’s a hole new symbian, but remember symbian 6.5? Biggest sh*** ever!!! And it was also supposed to be a very good OS, like this new one. But we all know Symbian, don’t we? :)

@triloblitz prolly, but the camera comes nowhere near the N8. Other features like Bluetooth 3.0, USB OTG, 16GB mem+32 GB expandable, 2nd Gen AMOLED-more visible in Sun, Pentaband, Free Navigation that works offline, 50 hrs of music playback, HDMI out with 5.1 sound, secondary camera for video calling, FM Transmitter, more video codec support, MUCH better GPU, and so on….
The specs on N8 might seem less but it can do MUCH more than others. Plus, its STILL not a highend phone! + Lower Price

@Panhead1993 Yes but looks like the Desire just got new again :) google just released the android 2.2, turning the Desire 6 times faster than the iPhone 4. I would pay to see the N8 compete with that ;)

@otso56 ya, now compare that with iPhone’s price in Europe. its 800€ WITHOUT tax!
