Do i need to buy an electricity adapter to use appliances from Australia in India?
I’m travelling to india, and want to know if i need to get anything different for the electricity plugs…for example, i want to use my australian nokia phone charger in india. will it work???

Just wondering whether my GHD will work in France without an adapter… It’s an IV styler with two prongs if that helps.

I don’t know where you are from, so it’s kinda hard to answer this accurately but I’ll try to explain the general system.
First, the physical shape. Are the pins flat or round? I know European plugs tend to be two round-pins (UK and Ireland uses 3-pin plugs), whereas American plugs are with flat pins. In France, they use two round-pins plugs, so if yours is not, then definitely you will need an adaptor.
Secondly, it’s the voltage that your equipment are capable of taking in, and this is VERY important. Most American equipments run on lower voltage than the European equipments, (i.e. America 120V, France 230V) so if you try to use an American equipment with just an adaptor and not a converter, you risk short-circuiting the equipment and kill off the electricity of the building, not to mention risk of fire. Especially when using heat generating items like hair dryer and hair straightener!
So if you’re uncertain about the voltage the equipments are running on, get a converter, not an adaptor. It’s best to err on the safe side.
