How do I fix the “operation failed” message on my nokia 6263 camera phone?

My phone is new, I only got it about 3 weeks ago and have literally only used the video/camera feature less than a dozen times in that time. Both video and camera worked fine. Now, however, when I try to take pictures or video, I get an “operation failed” message with a stop sign and the camera goes into standby mode.

I’ve tried restarting it, taking out my memory and SIM cards, and I restored factory settings. Is there a software update I can download, or do I just have to send it to Nokia to be fixed?

[[I didn't buy it from Nokia or from my service provider, if that makes a difference.]]

Nellie, I’m jealous over your Nokia 6263. That’s what I want

Who first conceived of the idea of inserting cameras into cell phones? Was it a cell phone wholesaler who guessed what users wanted? Was it a would-be amateur spy? Was it a fond mom who saw that adorable sight of a toddler sliding down the slide and was unable quickly to capture the moment? Whatever its origins, the cell phone camera has become enormously successful and it is becoming more and more intricate. Some purchasers regret the evolving complexity, while others can’t wait for the next step.

Cell phone cameras are unlikely to completely replace regular “point and shoot” cameras over the next few years. When you can walk into a drug store and get a camera for just dollars, you aren’t inclined to spend much more on a cell phone camera with fewer functions. Nonetheless, nothing can take the place of the spontaneity of the cell phone camera. All of us have a cell phone available every place, so those spontaneous irreplaceable pictures can be preserved on film. In addition, wholesale cell phones with cameras have become so easily available and so cheap that they are nearly a necessity. The cell phone camera is evolving incredibly rapidly. Here are just a few of the improvements that have arrived.

Resolution. Generally speaking, the higher the resolution, the better the picture quality. In 2009, cell phone cameras with an unbelievable 12 megapixels came on the market. The photographic quality produced by these products outpaces the gritty-quality shots that early 1 megapixel cameras could produce – at least as long as the camera operator has some fundamental skill level!

Size. Users still want their wholesale cell phones to be slim and light. The main purpose, after all, is still to have a conversation on the phone, although as these devices evolve, more and more features, from WiFi to GPS, are being merged into a single product. Size still matters, however, so as designers add features like autofocus and flash to the cell phone camera, they have to take steps towards keeping the camera small.

Power. Battery life matters a lot – every purchaser wants a wholesale cell phone that works as long as possible without recharging. The camera must be designed for the lowest possible drain on the battery whether in active use or in stand-by mode. For example, camera phones with flashes most often use the low power LED light to preserve power.

Survival. Pity the poor cell phone which has to outlive being dropped, drowned, stepped on, driven over and tossed! Obviously a camera has to be incredibly rugged to last under these circumstances. Wholesale cell phone manufacturers are meeting these challenges as well, even comingup with underwater camera phones.

The best stand-alone camera will always outperform the best cell phone camera in the hands of a top notch photographer. But the cell phone camera will get better andbetter and remain wildly popular.
